Counselling and Psychotherapy

What is Counselling and Psychotherapy?

Counselling and Psychotherapy are the terms used when individuals seek talking therapies to help them establish life changes and an improved and balanced state of happiness, contentment and wellbeing in life.

The talking therapy can be either short term or long term and it is the time set aside for you to talk to the therapist about your feelings, thoughts and any issues which you present to therapy

What will happen in a therapy session?

It usually takes time to talk about these emotions, life events and problems and so resolution is not usually achieved in by the first session. As a result short term therapy may range from 6 to 12 sessions, this would be discussed early on and review times would be agreed.

If individuals require long term therapy, again this would be discussed, reviewed and agreed at set points.

Ending therapy

It is a fact that during therapy you can experience various emotions, sometimes you feel great and happy as though a not returning. If you ever feel fear or uncertainty, which makes you feel like ending your therapy please discuss these feelings with your therapist to enable you to establish the strength of your worries. This will allow your therapist to support you, so that you are more clear of your reasons and final decision to end or continue therapy.
